Adoption & Intercountry Adoption
Adoption is governed by sections 1598/19 to 1598/37 of the Civil and Commercial Code together with the Child Adoption Act B.E. 2522. The adopter must be at least 25 years old and at least 15 years older than the adoptee, a minor adoptee requires parental consent, and cases are processed through the central authority, the Department of Children and Youth. Intercountry cases proceed under the 1993 Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption.
