Thailand Work Permit — WP.3, WP.10, BOI, IEAT, Digital Work Permit
Foreign nationals working in Thailand must hold both a valid Non-Immigrant B (or LTR/SMART) visa AND a Work Permit issued under the Alien Working Act (2551/2560). NYC handles all filing routes, including the 3-hour One-Stop Service for BOI-promoted companies.

Filing routes
The right route depends on the employer's BOI/IEAT status and your visa type.
- Standard MOL route — WP.3 (application) → WP.10 (renewal). Processing 7–10 days.
- BOI One-Stop Service (Chamchuri) — for BOI-promoted companies, same-day Work Permit + Visa extension
- IEAT One-Stop — for companies in industrial estates
- LTR Digital Work Permit — for LTR holders, no work permit book, 5-year validity
- SMART Visa — work rights bundled into visa, no separate WP
Documents & compliance
Standard Thai employers must maintain a 4:1 Thai-to-foreign employee ratio, 2 million THB registered capital per work permit (fully paid up), and 100,000 THB VAT registration. BOI companies are exempt from ratio and capital requirements.
Prohibited occupations
39 occupations reserved for Thai nationals under the Alien Occupation Act. Common issues: on-site sales to walk-in customers, handicraft, farming manual labour. NYC screens your job description before filing.

No — working before receipt of the physical Work Permit book (or BOI OSS receipt) is illegal. NYC advises on interim actions.
