BOI Investment Promotion & Incentives
The Investment Promotion Act B.E. 2520 as amended empowers the Board of Investment to grant incentives to promoted projects: corporate income tax exemption of up to eight years under section 31, and up to thirteen years under special measures for targeted technologies; exemption from import duty on machinery and raw materials; the right to own land for the promoted activity under section 27; and the right to bring in foreign skilled workers and experts under sections 25 and 26. Many promoted activities also permit 100 percent foreign ownership. Promoted companies use the e-Expert system and the One Start One Stop Investment Centre for visas and work permits. Activity lists and conditions change by BOI announcement, so check the current list at boi.go.th before fixing a structure.
