Q1017. Can I safely mail my original documents via domestic express couriers (EMS, Kerry, Flash) to an agency in Bangkok?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation legalization desk
Domestic express delivery can be a practical way to send originals to a Bangkok agency, but no courier service eliminates loss or damage risk. Confirm that the agency accepts courier deliveries and obtain its full address, named recipient, and written inventory requirements. Scan every page, place documents in a waterproof sleeve with rigid protection, and choose tracked delivery with proof of receipt where available. Check the selected carrier’s current rules on valuable documents, liability exclusions, and compensation limits. Have the agency acknowledge each original upon arrival. A common pitfall is assuming declared-value coverage pays the full cost of replacing legal documents. Verify which originals are required with the Department of Consular Affairs before filing.
