Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation legalization desk

Thai MFA legalization is not a blanket requirement for all foreign corporate financial statements and shareholder lists. Whether it is needed depends on the Thai authority, bank, licensing body, or transaction receiving them. Request its written checklist and clarify whether it accepts company-certified records, registry-certified extracts, audited statements, or legalized documents. If legalization is required, ask the responsible Thai embassy how the relevant signatures must first be authenticated overseas. Then confirm translation and any subsequent Thai MFA requirements. Financial statements and shareholder lists may need different certification because their issuers differ. A common pitfall is assuming an auditor’s signature also authenticates a separate shareholder list. Verify the required treatment with the receiving authority before filing.
