Q1103. Do LTR Visa applicants need MFA-legalized income verification documents?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation legalization desk

LTR income evidence does not automatically require Thai MFA legalization in every application. The BOI’s LTR unit sets documentary requirements by applicant category and may request additional verification for particular foreign records. First, identify your category and obtain its current evidence checklist. Prepare the requested income records, which may include tax returns, pension statements, employment documentation, or other qualifying income evidence. Confirm acceptable languages, certification requirements, and whether legalization is specifically requested before arranging an authentication chain. If requested, clarify which authority must authenticate each document. A common pitfall is submitting a bank balance as proof of qualifying annual income when the category requires income evidence. Verify your evidence requirements with the BOI LTR unit before filing.
