Q1105. Must police clearance records submitted for Thailand Elite Visas undergo MFA legalization?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation legalization desk
An MFA-legalized police clearance is not a universal standard requirement for Thailand Privilege membership and the associated visa, formerly commonly called the Thailand Elite Visa. Applicants undergo eligibility and background checks, but these should not be confused with an automatic obligation to submit a legalized foreign police certificate. First, review your current application instructions and ask whether a police clearance is required in your circumstances. If requested, confirm the issuing jurisdiction, document age limit, translation requirements, and exact authentication route before ordering legalization. A common pitfall is obtaining a certificate from the country of nationality when the request concerns a country of residence. Verify any certificate requirement with the responsible Thai immigration authority before filing.
