Q1246. How do cross-border e-commerce business permits undergo MFA review?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation legalization desk
MFA legalization should not be confused with permission to operate an e-commerce business in Thailand. Identify the foreign permit’s issuing authority and ask the Thai receiving agency whether that permit is relevant to its registration or licensing process. Obtain an official original or accepted certified copy, and confirm the origin-country authentication and Thai embassy legalization requirements. If the permit exists only online, ask whether a digitally verifiable version is accepted or an officially certified paper extract is needed. Prepare any required Thai translation and confirm the Department of Consular Affairs submission requirements. A common pitfall is assuming a legalized foreign marketplace permit replaces Thai business registration or sector-specific authorization. Verify legalization requirements with the Department of Consular Affairs before filing.
