MFA legalisation of a Thai death certificate
Death-certificate files are usually time-critical because insurers or probate courts impose deadlines, so we keep the route as short as possible: certified extract from the district office, translation into the destination language, expedited Department of Consular Affairs legalisation where justified, then the embassy. Destinations frequently also ask for the house registration showing the deceased struck off, an heirship certificate, or a court order appointing an estate administrator; we confirm the full checklist before starting so nothing has to be filed twice.

Legalisation verifies the signature and seal of the issuing officer or certifying translator. It does not certify that the facts stated in the document are true, and it is not an approval by the destination authority. Always confirm any additional requirements with the receiving authority before filing.
How the process works
- Send scans and tell us the destination country and authority via LINE @NYCLI or contact@ilc.ltd.
- We check the source documents and quote the handling fee, government fee and timeline as separate lines.
- We prepare the translation with passport-matching name spelling and assemble the file in the format the Department requires.
- We file at the Legalisation Division, Department of Consular Affairs and track the queue to the stamp.
- Where required we continue the chain at the destination embassy or consulate in Bangkok.
- Originals return by EMS or messenger with colour PDF scans.
