Import-export registration and trade documents
New importers often assume one commercial invoice is enough. Before clearance, the company must register as a customs trader, and some goods such as food, drugs, cosmetics or controlled items also need a permit from a specialist agency. This page covers what to prepare before your first shipment arrives.

1. Customs trader registration
Importers and exporters register with the Customs Department to use electronic clearance, with a tax ID, company certificate and authorised-signatory details. Many companies use a customs broker to file declarations, but the company's own registration still comes first.
2. Goods needing extra permits
Check before ordering whether your goods are controlled. Examples of agencies involved:
- Food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices: Thai FDA
- Agricultural goods, plants and animals: Department of Agriculture and DLD
- Goods under trade measures and certificates of origin: Department of Foreign Trade
- Telecom and radio equipment: NBTC
3. Foreign supplier documents
Distribution agreements, agency appointment letters and manufacturer certificates often need certified translation for Thai agencies such as the FDA, and some need legalisation by the origin country's embassy.
4. What we do
Company registration or objective amendments for trading, VAT registration, readiness check for customs registration, certified translation and legalisation of supplier documents, and coordination with the customs broker you choose.

Frequently asked questions
Can an individual import goods for resale?
Individuals can register in many cases, but ongoing businesses usually incorporate to separate tax and liability. Discuss with an accountant.
Do I need a customs broker?
It is not mandatory, but most traders use one because declarations need correct tariff codes and data.
Do you calculate duties?
No. We are not a customs broker. Check tariff codes and rates with Customs or your broker.
What extra is needed to import cosmetics?
Notification with the Thai FDA before importing for sale, usually with certified translations of manufacturer documents.
Can a foreign-owned company trade?
Some trading activities fall under the Foreign Business Act. Check the shareholding structure before starting.
Where do I get Form E or a certificate of origin?
From the Department of Foreign Trade through its online system.
Do you guarantee clearance?
No. Release decisions rest with Customs and the relevant agencies.
What does it cost?
We quote after reviewing the details. The initial enquiry for a quote is free.
