- Do Thai passport holders need a visa for Saudi Arabia?
- Yes. Since 2019 Thai passport holders can apply for the eVisa (tourist) at visa.visitsaudi.com — 1-year multi, 90 days per visit, SAR 480 fee including insurance. Umrah, Hajj, work, family visit and business require separate visa categories at the Saudi Embassy Bangkok (Sathorn).
- Work visa (Iqama) process?
- Employer files Block Visa (كتلة تأشيرات) at MHRSD (Ministry of Human Resources) → Enjaz portal application → Saudi Embassy Bangkok issues work visa (single-entry 90d). On arrival: medical fitness, biometrics, then Iqama (residence permit) issued within 90 days. Iqama valid 1–2 yr, tied to employer (Kafala reformed 2021 — job mobility now easier).
- Premium Residency (Golden Visa)?
- Two tracks: (1) Permanent Premium Residency — one-time SAR 800,000 fee, unlimited stay, no sponsor, business ownership right, real estate ownership. (2) Annual Premium Residency — SAR 100,000/yr renewable. Also targeted routes: Entrepreneur, Talented, Real Estate Owner (property ≥ SAR 4M), Special Talent — cheaper thresholds, launched 2024.
- Umrah & Hajj visas?
- Umrah visa: free via approved agents, valid year-round except Hajj season. Hajj visa: strict quota by nationality (Thailand ~ 13,000/yr), only via MOFA-approved Hajj operators. Since 2023, tourist eVisa also permits Umrah — no separate visa needed for Umrah on tourist eVisa.
- Family visit / dependant?
- Iqama holder earning ≥ SAR 5,000/mo (professional category) can sponsor spouse + children under family visa (زيارة عائلية) 90-day single or family Iqama for long-term. Domestic worker visa separate category. Marriage certificate + birth certs must be legalized (MOFA Riyadh) and attested by Saudi Embassy in home country.
