Q1012. What are the Thai social security contribution rules?
Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation accounting and tax team
Under the Social Security Act B.E. 2533, an employer with one or more employees must register within 30 days of hiring. Section 33 contributions are ordinarily 5 percent from the employee and 5 percent from the employer, computed on a wage base floored at THB 1,650 and capped at THB 15,000 per month, so a maximum of THB 750 each per month. Contributions and form SPS.1-10 are remitted by the 15th of the following month. Temporary rate reductions have been made by ministerial regulation in the past, so verify the rate for the month being filed. Ask our Thai accounting team to review your position by phone, LINE or email before you file.
Based on the Revenue Code, the Accounting Act B.E. 2543 and related law as at August 2026. General information only, not advice on a specific matter — verify with the Revenue Department (rd.go.th) before acting.
