Operating Licences, Tax Registration & Work Permits

After incorporation a company obtains a taxpayer identification number, registers for VAT once turnover exceeds THB 1.8 million a year under section 85/1 of the Revenue Code (or voluntarily where useful), and registers as an employer with the Social Security Office within 30 days of taking on its first employee under the Social Security Act B.E. 2533. Regulated activities need sector licences — food products with the Food and Drug Administration, factories under the Factory Act B.E. 2535 as amended in 2562, and tour operators under the Tourism Business and Guide Act B.E. 2551. Employment of foreigners falls under the Emergency Decree on Managing the Work of Aliens B.E. 2560, and Department of Employment practice requires THB 2 million of paid-up capital and four Thai employees per work permit.
