Q1011. Does a NAATI translation need an original wet-ink signature, or is a digital stamp accepted?

Answered by NAATI Certified Practitioner · NYC Visa & Translation
A wet-ink signature is not universally required for a NAATI translation; a properly certified electronic version may be accepted, depending on the receiving authority. The important distinction is between an identifiable translator-certified document and an ordinary PDF with an agency logo. Ask for the translator’s name, NAATI credential details, certification date, and applicable stamp or certification statement. If your recipient requires paper originals or a particular signature format, communicate that before translation begins. For an online visa submission, check the current Department of Home Affairs instructions; for a skills assessment, check that assessing body’s rules separately. Keep the original electronic file unchanged, since editing or recombining it can interfere with digital verification features.
