Q1126. Can a Thai NAATI translation agency issue an official tax invoice with VAT for corporate clients?

Answered by NAATI Certified Practitioner · NYC Visa & Translation
Yes, a Thai translation agency can issue a VAT tax invoice for corporate clients if the supplying business is VAT-registered and the transaction is subject to VAT. NAATI certification concerns the translator’s professional credential; it does not determine the agency’s Thai tax status. Before commissioning work, ask the agency to confirm its invoicing entity, VAT registration and whether the quotation includes VAT. Provide your company’s legal name, registered billing address, tax identification number and head-office or branch details as applicable. Request a sample invoice format if your accounts team has specific requirements. A standard receipt is not necessarily a VAT tax invoice. Confirm current tax-invoice requirements with the Thai Revenue Department or your accountant.
