Q1081. How can foreign nationals resolve name discrepancies between passports and official home documents?

Start by establishing whether the mismatch is a spelling variation, a transliteration difference, or a legal name change. Compare your passport with every document intended for legalization, and ask the receiving authority which evidence it accepts to connect the names. Depending on its requirements, obtain a corrected document, an official name-change certificate, or an accepted identity declaration from the appropriate home-country authority or embassy. Have supporting documents translated where required, and confirm their authentication route before submission to the Thai MFA. A common pitfall is silently changing a name in the translation; a translator cannot correct the underlying official record.
