Q1117. What is the official validity period of a foreign certificate of no impediment in Thailand?

There is no single validity period that can safely be applied to every foreign certificate of no impediment submitted in Thailand. Acceptance depends on the issuing authority, any expiry printed on the certificate, and the requirements of the Thai district office registering the marriage. Before ordering the certificate, ask that office how recently it must have been issued and whether an embassy declaration is required instead or additionally. Coordinate authentication, translation, and legalization so the document remains acceptable at the marriage appointment. A common pitfall is assuming legalization renews the certificate’s age; authentication does not change its original issue date. Check the latest acceptance requirements with the registering district office and relevant embassy before filing.
