Q1042. Is formal parental consent required for processing a minor's Thai police background check?

Answered by NYC Visa & Translation

A minor’s Thai police-clearance application may require formal parent or legal-guardian authorization, but the exact consent procedure must be confirmed with the Royal Thai Police. Ask the Police Clearance Service Center whether it requires a signed consent form, the adult’s attendance, or permission from more than one person with parental authority. Prepare the child’s identity documents and evidence of the relationship, such as a birth certificate. Where custody or guardianship arrangements apply, ask which supporting orders or records are needed. If a parent is abroad, verify whether remotely signed documents require certification or legalization. Do not assume that a school, relocation company, or accompanying relative can authorize the application without proof of legal authority.
