Q1079. Do I need to submit original name-change certificates for every single legal name change when requesting a police check?

You should document every legal name change needed to connect your identity records, but that does not necessarily mean surrendering every original certificate. Confirm with the Royal Thai Police Police Clearance Service Center whether originals must be presented for inspection, whether certified copies are acceptable, and what applies to postal or representative applications. Prepare a chronological chain linking your birth or earlier name to your current passport and identification documents. Include surname changes through marriage or divorce where relevant, not just separate name-change certificates. Missing an intermediate change can leave unexplained identity differences. Keep copies of everything submitted, and clarify which originals will be returned before handing them over.
