Q1081. Does a foreign spouse who adopted a Thai surname face any complications when requesting a Thai police check?

Adopting a Thai surname does not by itself prevent a foreign spouse from requesting a Thai police check, but inconsistent identity records can complicate the application. Use the name required by the Royal Thai Police application instructions, normally anchored to your current passport, and disclose previous names wherever requested. Prepare the marriage record, any separate legal name-change evidence, and relevant previous passport details to connect the identities. A marriage certificate alone may not establish that your passport name legally changed. Ask the Police Clearance Service Center about translations or authentication for foreign-issued supporting documents. Before submission, compare spellings and transliterations across your passport, Thai immigration records, and supporting certificates.
