Q1112. Do fingerprint cards completed overseas require Notary Public authentication before mailing to Thailand?

Notary Public authentication is not something you should assume is mandatory for every fingerprint card completed overseas; check the requirements for your issuing country with the Police Clearance Service Center. Officer signatures and police station stamps authenticate the fingerprint-taking process, while notarization may serve a different purpose and cannot correct unclear prints. Send the Center a description of who will take your fingerprints and ask whether any additional certification is needed. Also distinguish requirements for the fingerprint card from those for passport copies or authorization documents. If notarization is requested, clarify exactly what must be certified before paying, and retain scans of the completed documents before mailing the originals.
