A background check for regulated security-guard licensing in Thailand can follow a different route from a police clearance certificate requested for an overseas visa. First ask the employer whether the check is for recruitment only or for the applicable security-guard licensing process. Obtain its written instructions identifying the police unit, submission channel, fingerprint requirements, and any employer referral documents. Confirm those instructions with the Royal Thai Police authority responsible for that check. Do not assume that a Special Branch police clearance certificate will replace a licensing-related criminal record search. If the result will also be used abroad, check the destination authority’s separate certificate and translation requirements.
