Q1135. Will a minor compound criminal offense that was settled out of court negatively impact my police clearance issuance?

An out-of-court settlement of a compoundable offense does not automatically mean the matter disappears from police records or prevents issuance of a clearance certificate. The effect depends on the offense’s legal classification, whether the settlement was formally recognized, and the recorded case disposition. Obtain the relevant withdrawal, closure, prosecutorial, or court documentation and ask the responsible investigating unit whether its records reflect the outcome. Then check with the Royal Thai Police Police Clearance Service Centre about any supporting evidence needed. Certificate issuance and a foreign visa authority’s assessment are separate matters. Follow the destination authority’s disclosure wording, and consult a Thai lawyer if the case status remains unclear or disputed.
