Q1168. Can retired expats living in Phuket authorize a Bangkok lawyer to process their background check entirely remotely?

A retired expatriate in Phuket may be able to appoint a Bangkok lawyer for permitted submission or collection tasks, but should not assume the entire police-check process can be completed remotely. Before signing an authorization, ask the Royal Thai Police Police Clearance Service Center whether representative applications are accepted for the applicant’s circumstances. Confirm whether fingerprints can be taken at an accepted location in Phuket and whether original identity documents or personal attendance are required. Give the lawyer a written scope covering submission, corrections, collection, and return delivery. Verify the lawyer’s professional status and request receipts. Retirement status alone does not remove identity-verification or fingerprint requirements.
