Q1197. Can foreign nationals whose visas have lapsed into an overstay status successfully obtain a police clearance?

An overstay does not let us determine whether your police clearance application will be accepted; you should confirm your circumstances with the Royal Thai Police before applying. A criminal record check and immigration status are separate matters, but submitting an application does not regularise an overstay or protect you from immigration enforcement. Do not conceal expired permission to stay or provide altered immigration documents. Ask which passport pages, entry records, and status documents are required, and obtain advice from a qualified Thai immigration lawyer about addressing the overstay. If an agency offers assistance, understand that representation cannot remove immigration risks or guarantee certificate issuance.
