Q1222. Will an expunged Thai criminal record still appear on the police clearance?

An expunged or otherwise cleared Thai record may still affect a police clearance if the relevant database has not been updated or the legal order does not remove every associated entry. The term “expunged” can describe different legal outcomes, so the exact court order and applicable Thai law matter. Obtain certified copies of the final order and any documents confirming completion of the required process. Ask the Royal Thai Police how the disposition is recorded and whether a correction or status update is needed before requesting a new certificate. A qualified Thai lawyer can assess the effect of the order. Separately, answer foreign visa questions according to their wording; a clear certificate does not automatically eliminate duties to disclose past arrests or convictions.
