Q1240. How do I apply for a Thai police clearance to become a public company director?

Start by confirming whether the relevant company law or securities regulator requires a Thai police clearance for your proposed directorship; it is not a universal requirement. Ask the company secretary or legal adviser to identify the jurisdiction, appointment process, and specific evidence needed. If the company is in Thailand, check applicable requirements with the Department of Business Development and, where relevant, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand. Apply through the Royal Thai Police if a clearance is required, using its current checklist and stated purpose requirements. A police certificate does not by itself establish eligibility to serve as a director, because other disqualifications or disclosure obligations may apply.
