Q1001. Do I need a Schengen visa as a Thai passport holder?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation team
Thai ordinary passport holders generally need a Schengen visa for short tourist or business visits, unless they qualify for an exemption through another valid immigration status or document. Apply through the country that is your main destination, normally where you will spend the most time; first entry is not automatically the deciding factor. Prepare your itinerary, accommodation evidence, travel medical insurance, financial records, and evidence of employment or other ties to Thailand. Follow that destination’s rules for translating Thai documents, because accepted languages and certification requirements differ. Check the destination embassy’s current checklist before booking an appointment, and avoid nonrefundable travel purchases merely to support an application.
