A UK spouse visa granted on an initial application from outside the UK normally permits a stay of two years and nine months. An in-country grant or extension is normally two years and six months, but your actual immigration permission controls. Fiancé(e) permission is different and does not provide the same initial spouse-visa duration. Applicants applying from Thailand should check the dates and conditions recorded in their decision and eVisa, then plan an extension before permission expires. Permanent settlement is a separate application, not an automatic consequence of marriage or visa expiry. Confirm current durations and settlement-route requirements with UK Visas and Immigration, especially if your circumstances involve an exceptional or alternative route.
