You need a Schengen Airport Transit Visa when your nationality and transit circumstances fall under the relevant country’s airport-transit rules, even if you remain airside. A Thai passport alone does not normally trigger the common Schengen airport-transit requirement, but national rules and individual circumstances must still be checked. Consult the embassy of the country where you will change planes. Crucially, an airport-transit visa does not authorize entry into Schengen. Collecting checked baggage, changing airports, or taking a connecting flight between two Schengen countries may require a short-stay visa instead. Send the airline your complete itinerary and confirm that an airside transfer is possible with your tickets and baggage arrangements.
