Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation team

Online document certification in Thailand is developing and currently works in limited forms: (1) certification of electronic signatures through providers licensed under the Electronic Transactions Act (2) certification of electronic copies in contexts where the receiving authority accepts them (3) traditional notarisation by a Notarial Services Attorney still requires appearing in person with original documents in many cases. The key caution: foreign authorities and embassies differ widely in what they accept — some require traditionally notarised paper documents, others increasingly accept digitally certified electronic documents. Always confirm the accepted format with the end recipient before proceeding. Our team verifies the recipient's requirements first and chooses the correct certification route so the document is accepted on the first attempt. This is general guidance; requirements and fees change — always verify with the PDPC, ETDA, the Thai Customs Department, or the Department of Foreign Trade before proceeding.
