Q1404. How do Singapore's EP, S Pass, and Work Permit differ?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation team

Singapore tiers work passes by skill and salary: (1) Employment Pass (EP) — for professionals and executives, with a minimum qualifying salary and the COMPASS points system assessing qualifications, firm diversity, and more (2) S Pass — for mid-skilled workers, with a lower salary threshold and employer quota limits (3) Work Permit — for general workers in specified sectors such as construction, manufacturing, and services, with quotas and sector conditions. The Singapore employer files the application with MOM. Watch out: minimum salary thresholds rise periodically — check the latest MOM figures; Work Permit holders face restrictions on bringing family and changing jobs; and applications must go through the employer — beware agents promising an EP without a real employer. Our team reviews contracts, translates degrees, and prepares supporting documents. This is general guidance; requirements and fees change — always verify with the embassy, the labour ministry, or the immigration authority of the destination country before proceeding.
