Q1406. How do I verify an overseas employment agency is trustworthy?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation team
To verify an overseas job placement agency: (1) check its overseas-placement licence with the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour — the official list is available through the department's channels (2) service fees must not exceed the legal cap and receipts must be issued (3) the employment contract must name the real employer and clearly state wages, benefits, and housing in Thai and the destination language (4) confirm a genuine position exists — ask for documents from the overseas employer (5) watch for scam signs: unusually large upfront payments, unrealistically high promised income, no written contract, pressure to pay quickly. Watch out: if defrauded, report to the Department of Employment immediately, and never travel on a tourist visa to work. Our team reviews employment contracts and agency licences before you pay or sign anything. This is general guidance; requirements and fees change — always verify with the embassy, the labour ministry, or the immigration authority of the destination country before proceeding.
