Marriage Certificate Certification in Thailand
Kor Ror 2 is the marriage register, Kor Ror 3 the marriage certificate, and Kor Ror 22 a family-status record. Check which document the recipient needs rather than substituting them.

Certification scope and key checks
Kor Ror 2 and Kor Ror 3 relate to marriage registration but are different records. A recipient may request a recent certified register extract, the certificate or both. Do not assume every couple must supply both and complete every certification step.
Kor Ror 22 records family status involving events abroad. It should not be described as a new marriage replacing the original foreign marriage. Ask the Thai registry to check the foreign record and circumstances; recording it does not compel acceptance by every country.
Check names before and after marriage, dates, places and name-change evidence. Copy or translation certification does not prove the marriage remains subsisting on the filing date. If current-status evidence is required, follow the recipient’s prescribed register or evidence requirements.
Documents to prepare
- Kor Ror 2, Kor Ror 3 or foreign marriage record as requested
- Identity and relevant name-change evidence
- Recipient’s freshness, language and certification checklist
Procedure for this document
- Identify the register, certificate or family-status record required
- Check names and recipient-specific recency requirements
- Arrange only the requested translation and certification before filing
Overseas use: confirm the recipient’s route
Notarization is not required for every public record, and some uses need no onward legalisation. Confirm whether the recipient needs an original, copy, translation or specific certification before arranging MFA and embassy steps where applicable.
Thailand deposited its accession on 30 June 2026. The Apostille Convention is scheduled to enter into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027. Do not assume Thai Apostilles are available before then. Even after entry into force, document scope and treaty relations with the destination must be checked.
Questions before booking
- Can Kor Ror 2 and Kor Ror 3 be used interchangeably?
- Do not assume so. Kor Ror 2 is the register and Kor Ror 3 the certificate. Ask whether the recipient requires one or both.
- Must a foreign marriage be registered again as a new Thai marriage?
- Do not assume a new marriage registration is needed. Ask the Thai registry to assess family-status recording and the foreign marriage evidence for the couple’s circumstances.
- Are MFA and embassy legalisation always needed?
- No. Ask the recipient to confirm the certification, language and onward steps. Notarization, translation and legalisation are distinct; do not perform every step automatically.
- How are fees and timing assessed?
- After reviewing the form, copies, signers, language and onward steps, we provide a quote and indicative schedule before work. Authority queues and outcomes are not guaranteed.
- What should I send before booking?
- Send the record type, destination country, receiving authority and its checklist through a direct contact channel. Redact personal information unnecessary for the initial enquiry.
