Certified Passport Copy Certification in Thailand
Overseas banks and financial services may require a passport copy certified by a specified category of person. Check who may certify, which pages, and the exact wording before booking.

Certification scope and key checks
A certified passport copy confirms the copy matches the passport presented and the holder matches the photo. It does not confirm visa or residence status. Some recipients prescribe certification wording, signature, date and certifier details.
Usually the bio-data page is enough, but some applications need visa, entry-stamp or signature pages too. Check the checklist before the appointment to avoid repeating the work.
The passport should be valid. If the recipient wants travel history from an old passport, bring it. A notary does not certify copies from files or photos instead of the physical passport.
Documents to prepare
- Physical passport (and old passport if travel pages are needed)
- Recipient checklist on pages and certification wording
- Courier details if originals must be sent abroad
Procedure for this document
- Confirm pages and wording required by the recipient
- Compare the copy with the passport and holder in person
- Legalise only if the recipient requests it
Overseas use: confirm the recipient’s route
Notarization is not required for every public record, and some uses need no onward legalisation. Confirm whether the recipient needs an original, copy, translation or specific certification before arranging MFA and embassy steps where applicable.
Thailand deposited its accession on 30 June 2026. The Apostille Convention is scheduled to enter into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027. Do not assume Thai Apostilles are available before then. Even after entry into force, document scope and treaty relations with the destination must be checked.
Questions before booking
- Which pages must be certified?
- Usually the bio-data page; some applications also need visa or stamp pages. Follow the recipient’s checklist.
- Can someone else bring my passport?
- Certification involving identity comparison should be done with the holder present. Make an initial enquiry before booking.
- Are MFA and embassy legalisation always needed?
- No. Ask the recipient to confirm the certification, language and onward steps. Notarization, translation and legalisation are distinct; do not perform every step automatically.
- How are fees and timing assessed?
- After reviewing the form, copies, signers, language and onward steps, we provide a quote and indicative schedule before work. Authority queues and outcomes are not guaranteed.
- What should I send before booking?
- Send the record type, destination country, receiving authority and its checklist through a direct contact channel. Redact personal information unnecessary for the initial enquiry.
