Police Clearance Certificate Certification in Thailand

Separate obtaining a Thai police clearance from copy or translation certification. Check the Police Clearance Service Center and recipient rules; three or six months is not a universal validity period.

Certification scope and key checks

For a Thai police clearance for overseas use, check the Police Clearance Service Center of the Royal Thai Police. Do not automatically substitute a general fingerprint-check office for the PCC issuer. Obtaining the certificate and certifying it after issuance are different services.

Recipients can apply different issue-date, residence-history and return-to-residence rules. No universal three- or six-month period applies to every application. Read the destination and visa-category checklist before deciding when to obtain the record.

Check the actual issued language, name and identity-document details. If the issued record is already in an accepted language, do not automatically add translation. Copy certification does not erase history, alter the result or require recipient acceptance.

Documents to prepare

  • Issued police clearance and recipient’s checklist
  • Passport or identity details used for the PCC application
  • Issue-date, language, original and onward-certification requirements

Procedure for this document

  1. Confirm the issuing office and application requirements if not yet issued
  2. Check recency and issued language against the recipient’s rules
  3. Arrange translation or certification only as specifically required

Overseas use: confirm the recipient’s route

Notarization is not required for every public record, and some uses need no onward legalisation. Confirm whether the recipient needs an original, copy, translation or specific certification before arranging MFA and embassy steps where applicable.

Thailand deposited its accession on 30 June 2026. The Apostille Convention is scheduled to enter into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027. Do not assume Thai Apostilles are available before then. Even after entry into force, document scope and treaty relations with the destination must be checked.

Questions before booking

Does a PCC always expire after six months?
No universal period should be assumed. The recipient sets issue-date and acceptance conditions for that application. Check current instructions before obtaining or certifying it.
Can notarization change the police-check result?
No. Copy or signature certification cannot change an issuer’s result. Contact the issuing authority directly if information is incorrect.
Are MFA and embassy legalisation always needed?
No. Ask the recipient to confirm the certification, language and onward steps. Notarization, translation and legalisation are distinct; do not perform every step automatically.
How are fees and timing assessed?
After reviewing the form, copies, signers, language and onward steps, we provide a quote and indicative schedule before work. Authority queues and outcomes are not guaranteed.
What should I send before booking?
Send the record type, destination country, receiving authority and its checklist through a direct contact channel. Redact personal information unnecessary for the initial enquiry.
