Professional License / Practicing Certificate Certification in Thailand

Many overseas regulators do not accept applicant-supplied copies and instead want a Certificate of Good Standing sent directly by the Thai council. Before certifying a licence copy, check whether the recipient wants a copy or a letter from the council.

Certification scope and key checks

A notary certifies the copy matches the original, not that the licence is current or unsuspended.

Current status comes from the Medical Council, Nursing Council or Council of Engineers.

Regulators such as AHPRA publish their own document and certification rules; follow them.

Documents to prepare

  • Original licence
  • Passport
  • Destination regulator's document list

Procedure for this document

  1. Read the recipient's rules
  2. Request a good-standing letter if needed
  3. Certify and translate the copy
  4. Consular/embassy legalisation only if required

Overseas use: confirm the recipient’s route

Notarization is not required for every public record, and some uses need no onward legalisation. Confirm whether the recipient needs an original, copy, translation or specific certification before arranging MFA and embassy steps where applicable.

Thailand deposited its accession on 30 June 2026. The Apostille Convention is scheduled to enter into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027. Do not assume Thai Apostilles are available before then. Even after entry into force, document scope and treaty relations with the destination must be checked.

Questions before booking

Does a certified copy prove the licence is current?
No; use a good-standing letter from the council.
Is MFA legalisation always needed?
No; it depends on the recipient.
Who should translate it?
A translator the recipient accepts, e.g. NAATI for Australia.
Are MFA and embassy legalisation always needed?
No. Ask the recipient to confirm the certification, language and onward steps. Notarization, translation and legalisation are distinct; do not perform every step automatically.
How are fees and timing assessed?
After reviewing the form, copies, signers, language and onward steps, we provide a quote and indicative schedule before work. Authority queues and outcomes are not guaranteed.
What should I send before booking?
Send the record type, destination country, receiving authority and its checklist through a direct contact channel. Redact personal information unnecessary for the initial enquiry.
