Tax Clearance Certificate Certification in Thailand

When a foreign recipient asks for 'tax clearance', they usually mean proof of filing such as PND 90/91 with receipts, a withholding certificate (50 Tawi) or a Thai tax residence certificate, all from the Revenue Department. A notary cannot issue or confirm tax status.

Certification scope and key checks

Ask the recipient to name the document; 'tax clearance' means different things in different countries.

A residence certificate supports treaty relief; it does not prove no tax is owed.

Translate from documents issued by the Revenue Department or its e-Filing system.

Documents to prepare

  • Tax returns and receipts
  • 50 Tawi from employer
  • Residence certificate if requested
  • Recipient name

Procedure for this document

  1. Confirm the exact document required
  2. Obtain it from the Revenue Department or e-Filing
  3. Translate
  4. Certify copies if required

Overseas use: confirm the recipient’s route

Notarization is not required for every public record, and some uses need no onward legalisation. Confirm whether the recipient needs an original, copy, translation or specific certification before arranging MFA and embassy steps where applicable.

Thailand deposited its accession on 30 June 2026. The Apostille Convention is scheduled to enter into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027. Do not assume Thai Apostilles are available before then. Even after entry into force, document scope and treaty relations with the destination must be checked.

Questions before booking

Does Thailand issue a general tax clearance?
There is no single universal form; ask the recipient to specify.
Can a notary certify I owe no tax?
No; that is for the Revenue Department.
Are e-Filing printouts accepted?
Many recipients accept them, but check first.
Are MFA and embassy legalisation always needed?
No. Ask the recipient to confirm the certification, language and onward steps. Notarization, translation and legalisation are distinct; do not perform every step automatically.
How are fees and timing assessed?
After reviewing the form, copies, signers, language and onward steps, we provide a quote and indicative schedule before work. Authority queues and outcomes are not guaranteed.
What should I send before booking?
Send the record type, destination country, receiving authority and its checklist through a direct contact channel. Redact personal information unnecessary for the initial enquiry.
