Q1177. Can translation spelling errors on the Criminal Records Division's English certificate be corrected upon request?

Answered by NYC Visa & Translation
You can request correction of an English spelling error, but the issuing police office must decide whether to amend or reissue its certificate. First identify the issuer shown on the document: an overseas-use clearance from the Royal Thai Police Special Branch should not automatically be treated as a Criminal Records Division screening result. Submit the certificate details, a copy showing the error, and supporting identity evidence such as the passport. If the error appears only in a separate private translation, contact that translator instead. Never alter the police certificate yourself. If the document has already been legalized or submitted abroad, ask the Department of Consular Affairs and receiving authority whether replacement authentication or resubmission is necessary.
