NAATI Translation — Thai Employment Reference Letter for Australia

A work reference describes employment as recorded by the employer. NAATI translation for Australia preserves the position, dates and duties; it must not add tasks to fit an occupation. Send complete pages and the recipient’s checklist, confirm scope and timing, check names and dates, then receive the agreed format. Verify certification and language direction in NAATI Directory. Translation timing depends on file review; the skills assessor decides the relevance and sufficiency of experience.

What should you prepare for this document?

  • Include letterhead, signature pages and actual signatory details.
  • Identify start/end dates and separately recorded role changes.
  • Ask the employer about missing duties or hours requested by the recipient; do not have the translator add them.

What may lead to a request for replacement documents?

  • Missing signature or employer details present in the source.
  • Replacing duties or titles with occupation-code wording.
  • Unexplained dates inconsistent with pay evidence.

These are preparation checks, not universal rejection rules. The recipient determines the evidence required.

What should not be guessed or changed?

Similar job titles do not establish equivalent experience. Translation does not assign ANZSCO codes or certify suitability for a nominated occupation.

  5. Verify the translator and language direction in NAATI Directory before filing.

Frequently asked questions

Can a translator add duties to match ANZSCO?

No. Translation must reflect the duties stated by the employer. If details are missing, check the assessor’s checklist and request an accurate employer record. Occupation selection and skills assessment are separate from translation. Standard occupation descriptions must not replace actual duties merely to make the evidence look suitable.

What if the letter does not state working hours?

Check the assessor’s current checklist to establish whether hours are required and in what form. If they are missing, ask the employer for an accurate record. The translator cannot infer hours from a job title, payslip or assumed working week, or issue a new employment statement on the company’s behalf.

Which English job title should the translation use?

Provide the title used by the employer alongside the source letter. If an existing English title and Thai duties appear inconsistent, flag the difference and obtain employer clarification. The translation should not select a new title solely because it resembles an occupation the applicant wishes to nominate.

Is a work reference the only evidence needed?

Do not assume so. The assessor’s checklist may require additional employment or payment evidence for the particular application. Arrange the requested records so that the work periods can be followed. An accurate translated reference does not allow one document to replace every other evidence requirement.

What if the employer changed its company name?

Preserve the company name shown on each document. If records from different periods use different names, provide an explanation or change-of-name evidence requested by the recipient. The translator should not silently replace an earlier employer name with the current name without support in the source.

How do I start an online work-reference translation?

Send complete readable pages, the recipient’s checklist and existing name spellings for a free initial enquiry. Confirm scope, quotation, delivery timing and PDF or print format before work begins. Check the translator’s certification and language direction in NAATI Directory before filing; the enquiry is not legal advice.
