Some Thai attorneys can provide notarial services as registered Notarial Services Attorneys, but being a licensed lawyer alone does not establish that qualification. Thailand’s arrangement should not automatically be treated as equivalent to a statutory Notary Public in another country. Before arranging certification, ask the overseas recipient whether it accepts a Thai Notarial Services Attorney’s signature and seal. Depending on the recipient, consular notarization or another form of witnessing may be required instead. Bring your identification and the document, and avoid signing beforehand if the lawyer must witness your signature. Verify the attorney’s relevant registration with the Lawyers Council of Thailand. Separately confirm whether translation, Thai MFA legalization, or destination-embassy authentication is needed after the notarial act.
