Q1381. What is the TDAC and does it replace a visa?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation team
The TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) is the digital arrival card that foreign nationals entering Thailand must complete online in advance, replacing the old paper TM.6 form. Generally all foreign arrivals must complete it, regardless of visa type or visa exemption, except groups exempted by announcement. It records personal details, travel information, accommodation in Thailand, and health information as required. Critically, the TDAC is separate from a visa: it is only an arrival record, not permission to enter or stay. Visa-exempt tourists still complete the TDAC, visa holders complete it too, and completing it never substitutes for a visa. Watch out: use only the official channel — beware of fake sites charging fees — and at the border, officers still assess entry from real documents such as onward tickets, funds, and accommodation. Our team prepares both the TDAC guidance and the entry document set for every visa client. This is general guidance; requirements and fees change — always verify with the embassy, Thai Immigration, the Department of Provincial Administration, or the Ministry of Interior before proceeding.
