Q1410. What do I need for the US F-1 student visa and is the interview hard?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation team

The F-1 visa is for full-time study in the US. Steps: (1) obtain an I-20 from a SEVP-certified institution (2) pay the SEVIS fee (3) complete the DS-160 online, pay the visa fee, and book an interview at the US Embassy (4) the interview — officers assess three things: whether you are a genuine student, whether funds are real, and whether you have ties to Thailand that will bring you back. Documents to prepare: I-20, financial evidence (bank accounts, scholarships, sponsor income letters), academic records, language scores, and evidence of ties to Thailand. Watch out: interviews are very short — answers must be clear and consistent with documents; preparing your 'why this field, this country' story matters; and a refusal does not bar reapplication, but you must fix the refused issue. Our team prepares the document set and coaches interviews one-on-one. This is general guidance; requirements and fees change — always verify with the destination country's embassy or immigration authority and the educational institution before proceeding.
