Affidavit Certification in Thailand
An affidavit is a statement made in the form required by its recipient. Check oath or affirmation wording and evidence; it does not universally replace court attendance or official forms.

Certification scope and key checks
The declarant should understand and take responsibility for the statement. An attorney checks identity and performs the stated certification act; that is not a guarantee that every assertion has been independently proved.
Oaths, affirmations and acknowledgments serve different purposes. Check the recipient’s form and eligible witness rules. Calling a document an affidavit does not permit replacing an agency’s I-134 or other prescribed form with a generic statement.
Documents to prepare
- Draft statement and recipient’s witness wording
- Declarant’s identity document
- Supporting evidence and a language the declarant understands
Procedure for this document
- Review the statement and recipient’s form
- Confirm identity and statement procedure
- Execute before the required witness and check any onward steps
Overseas use: confirm the recipient’s route
Notarization is not required for every public record, and some uses need no onward legalisation. Confirm whether the recipient needs an original, copy, translation or specific certification before arranging MFA and embassy steps where applicable.
Thailand deposited its accession on 30 June 2026. The Apostille Convention is scheduled to enter into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027. Do not assume Thai Apostilles are available before then. Even after entry into force, document scope and treaty relations with the destination must be checked.
Questions before booking
- Does notarization prove every statement true?
- No. It does not independently prove every event. The declarant remains responsible for accuracy and may need supporting evidence.
- Are MFA and embassy legalisation always needed?
- No. Ask the recipient to confirm the certification, language and onward steps. Notarization, translation and legalisation are distinct; do not perform every step automatically.
- How are fees and timing assessed?
- After reviewing the form, copies, signers, language and onward steps, we provide a quote and indicative schedule before work. Authority queues and outcomes are not guaranteed.
- What should I send before booking?
- Send the record type, destination country, receiving authority and its checklist through a direct contact channel. Redact personal information unnecessary for the initial enquiry.
