Certified True Copy Certification in Thailand
Copy certification compares a copy with the presented record. It does not establish continuing validity or mandatory acceptance; check original and electronic-record requirements first.

Certification scope and key checks
Prepare all pages requested, including amendments where relevant. A certified passport copy does not confirm current travel rights or visa status and cannot replace an original where the recipient insists on one.
For electronically issued records, provide the issuer’s verification method, such as a digital signature or verification service. Printing a file does not automatically produce a paper original. Confirm the certification the recipient requires.
Documents to prepare
- Original or electronic record with verification details
- Complete copy of the requested pages
- Recipient’s certifier and wording requirements
Procedure for this document
- Check record type and required pages
- Compare the copy with the presented record
- Issue the scoped certification and check translation or onward steps
Overseas use: confirm the recipient’s route
Notarization is not required for every public record, and some uses need no onward legalisation. Confirm whether the recipient needs an original, copy, translation or specific certification before arranging MFA and embassy steps where applicable.
Thailand deposited its accession on 30 June 2026. The Apostille Convention is scheduled to enter into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027. Do not assume Thai Apostilles are available before then. Even after entry into force, document scope and treaty relations with the destination must be checked.
Questions before booking
- Can a photograph alone be certified as an original copy?
- Do not assume it substitutes for an original. Send the record type first; original-comparison work must follow a method accepted by the recipient and certifier.
- Are MFA and embassy legalisation always needed?
- No. Ask the recipient to confirm the certification, language and onward steps. Notarization, translation and legalisation are distinct; do not perform every step automatically.
- How are fees and timing assessed?
- After reviewing the form, copies, signers, language and onward steps, we provide a quote and indicative schedule before work. Authority queues and outcomes are not guaranteed.
- What should I send before booking?
- Send the record type, destination country, receiving authority and its checklist through a direct contact channel. Redact personal information unnecessary for the initial enquiry.
