Q1054. Can foreign documents with an Apostille certificate be directly submitted to Thai government agencies?

Answered by the NYC Visa & Translation legalization desk
Direct submission is appropriate only after confirming that the Thai receiving agency accepts your document in that form under the applicable rules. Ask the agency whether your specific foreign document can be submitted with its Apostille, whether an original or certified copy is needed, and whether a certified Thai translation must accompany it. Separately confirm whether the Apostille Convention is effective between Thailand and the issuing country for the document concerned, or whether another exemption applies. If not, additional authentication or legalization may be necessary. A common pitfall is confusing authentication of a signature with acceptance of the document’s contents for a particular application. Verify direct-submission requirements with the receiving Thai government agency before filing.
