Q1220. Which countries accept a Thai police clearance apostille?

Answered by NYC Visa & Translation
Countries can accept an apostille on a Thai police clearance under the Convention only where it is in force between Thailand and the destination and the document falls within its scope. A general list of Apostille Convention members is not enough: effective dates, territorial coverage, and any objections affecting treaty relations must also be checked. Use the HCCH status table to verify the destination, then confirm Thailand’s issuance arrangements with the Department of Consular Affairs. Ask the receiving embassy or immigration authority whether authentication is required at all and whether a translation needs separate certification. If the Convention does not apply to that destination, the traditional legalization route may still be necessary. An apostille does not determine whether the certificate meets visa-document requirements.
