Who must report

Every foreigner staying in Thailand continuously for 90 days or more on a long-stay visa or extension must report their current address to immigration every 90 days. This applies to retirement, marriage, work, education, and most other long-stay statuses.

The report is separate from your visa and your extension — having a valid one-year extension does not exempt you. Leaving and re-entering Thailand resets the 90-day count.

The three ways to report

You can report in person at your local immigration office, by registered mail, or online through the immigration website. The online system is the most convenient but is known for occasional outages — report early in the window, not on the last day.

The reporting window opens before the due date and closes after it, but late reporting carries a fine. Mark your calendar from your entry date or your last report date, whichever is more recent.

  • In person at your local immigration office
  • By registered mail (must arrive within the window)
  • Online via the immigration portal (report early — outages happen)
  • Leaving Thailand resets the count to zero

The counting rules that trip people up

The 90 days count from your last entry into Thailand or your last report — not from your visa issue date. Many people miscount by using the wrong starting point and end up late.

If you travel abroad and return, the count restarts from your new entry date. Keep your entry stamp date handy; it controls everything.

TM30 vs 90-day report — they're different

TM30 is the address notification that your landlord or hotel must file when you stay at a property — it's about where you're staying right now. The 90-day report (TM47) is your personal obligation to confirm your address periodically. Both can apply to the same person at the same time.

Note: immigration procedures and the online system change. Always confirm current requirements with Thai immigration before your due date. We provide document translation services; we cannot influence immigration decisions.

คำถามที่พบบ่อย

What happens if I report late?+

Late reporting carries a fine. If you realize you're overdue, report as soon as possible — the longer the delay, the worse it looks at your next extension.

Does leaving Thailand reset the 90 days?+

Yes. Every new entry restarts the count from zero, so frequent travelers sometimes never reach 90 days.

Is TM30 the same as the 90-day report?+

No. TM30 is filed by your landlord about your current address; the 90-day report (TM47) is your own periodic obligation. You may owe both.

The online system rejected my report — what now?+

The online portal has occasional outages and browser issues. Try again early in the window, and if it keeps failing, report in person before your due date.
