ISO 27001 ISMS + ISO 27701 PIMS Implementation

ติดตั้ง ISO 27001 (ISMS) + ISO 27701 (PIMS) — Certification Ready · § Advisory
Quick Answer
Annex A gap analysis · SoA · risk register + treatment plan · 30+ policy documents · internal audit · Stage 1+2 certification audit by CB (BSI/TÜV/BV).
Timeline: Gap 4 wk · implementation 4–6 mo · internal audit 2 wk · CB Stage 1+2 8–12 wk (8–12 mo total).
Official fee: CB certification (BSI/TÜV): USD 12,000–45,000 (scope + FTE) · annual surveillance USD 5,000–15,000 · re-cert year 3 USD 8,000–20,000 · +30% add-on for 27701.
Legal Basis
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (Annex A 93 controls) · ISO/IEC 27701:2019 (PIMS extension) · ISO/IEC 27002:2022 · NIST CSF 2.0 mapping · SOC 2 · PDPA §37 (security measures) · Cybersecurity Act 2562 §57 (CII) · MAS TRM (Singapore).
Who Needs This
SaaS · fintech · healthtech selling to enterprise · CII (banks, hospitals, telecoms) · MNCs mandated by HQ · vendors bid-required to hold ISO 27001.
Required Documents
- ISMS scope + context of organisation (clause 4)
- Risk assessment methodology + risk register + treatment plan
- SoA (93 Annex A controls)
- Policy set: InfoSec, Access Control, Cryptography, Supplier, IR, BCP, HR, Physical
- PIMS additions (27701): DPIA template, PII register, subject rights procedure
- Internal audit report + management review minutes.
Common Pitfalls
- SoA exclusions without justification = major NC at Stage 2 · every exclusion needs risk-based rationale.
- Paper policies without practice = major NC · auditor interviews 10+ end-users.
- Supplier security (A.5.19–5.23) overlooked — cloud/SaaS need DPA + security clause + right to audit.
- 27701 requires 27001 first — it's an extension, not standalone · commonly misunderstood.
Typical Use-cases
- Thai SaaS 80 staff · 27001 + 27701 · closes $2M/yr enterprise deal
- Hospital chain · 27001 + HIPAA mapping · post-2022 breach → cert for trust
- Bank subsidiary · 27001 + PCI-DSS + MAS TRM · triple audit
- Government contractor · 27001 mandated in THB 200M TOR.
FAQ
- 27001 vs SOC 2?
- 27001 = ISO cert, global, 3-yr · SOC 2 = AICPA report, US, annual · sell EU/APAC → 27001 · sell US → SOC 2 · ideal is both (60% overlap).
- 27001:2013 vs 2022?
- 2022 cuts controls 114→93 · adds 11 new · transition deadline 31 Oct 2025.
- Is a CISO required?
- Not mandated · but requires 'top management' + ISMS manager · SMEs combine with CTO/COO.
- How to maintain cert?
- Annual surveillance audit · re-cert year 3 · internal audit + management review yearly.

Frequently asked questions
- Can a foreigner own 100% of a Thai company?
- Generally no for activities listed in the Foreign Business Act, where majority foreign ownership requires a Foreign Business Licence, a BOI promotion, or treaty rights such as the US–Thailand Treaty of Amity. Manufacturing and certain export activities are largely open, and BOI-promoted activities can permit full foreign ownership together with land-holding and visa privileges, so the right structure depends on the specific activity.
- What is the minimum registered capital for a Thai company?
- There is no general statutory minimum for a Thai-majority company, but practical thresholds apply: THB 2 million of paid-up registered capital per foreign work permit, or THB 1 million if the foreigner is married to a Thai national, and THB 3 million per foreign shareholder for a Foreign Business Licence. Capital should therefore be planned around the visa and work-permit outcome you need, not the incorporation minimum.
- How long does company registration take?
- Registration at the Department of Business Development can be completed within one to three working days once the name reservation, shareholder documents and company objectives are ready, and the VAT registration and social security registration follow afterwards. The realistic end-to-end timeline including bank account opening is two to six weeks, with the bank account usually being the slowest step for foreign directors.
- What ongoing accounting obligations does a Thai company have?
- Every Thai company must keep statutory accounts, file monthly withholding tax (PND 1, 3, 53) and VAT (PP 30) returns by the middle of the following month, file the half-year corporate income tax return (PND 51) and the annual return (PND 50), and have its financial statements audited by a Thai CPA and filed with the DBD each year. Dormant companies are not exempt — nil returns and an audited statement are still required.
